DESCRIPTION:THE GREATER LOWELL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE and\n\n	THE LOWELL CEMETERY\n\n	PRESENT A SPECIAL FALL TOUR\n\n	SATURDAY\, OCTOBER 20\, 2012 at 10:00 AM\n\n	 \n\n	The Proprietors of the Lowell Cemetery and the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce invite you to join us for an informative tour through the historic Lowell Cemetery.  \n\n	 \n\n	Listed on the the National Register of Historic Places\, this garden-style cemetery opened its gates in 1841 on the banks of the Concord River.  \n\n	 \n\n	The tour features both Art and History\, early mourning customs and the significance of Victorian monument symbols. Hear stories about the people buried here. The tour will be conducted by local historian\, Richard Howe\, Jr.\n\n	 \n\n	This special tour is FREE and will begin at the Knapp Avenue entrance. Parking is available inside the cemetery.  Wear comfortable shoes. No reservations required however you can call the Chamber office to register at 978-459-8154.  The tour will be held rain or shine. Italian Marble scuplted in France by English sculptor\, Bruce Price Joy.  Cook gave the staue Victory to theCity of Lowell in 1866 to commemorate the end of the Civil War.  It was erected in front of City Hall and still stands there today.
